I have been beating the drum "Free Business Consulting - Limited Availability".  DeVriese l Carney was one of the first to request and today they had a business consulting session and Lisa just sent me this note:

Heather and I met with Darryl this morning.

It was a great meeting!  Our objective was to get some guidance on becoming aware of what we don’t know that we don’t know.

He listened, provided insights, listened some more, and provided more specific insights. And helped us identity several things that we didn’t know that we didn’t know.

He pointed out several actions, little and big, that we could do to strengthen our firm, and also, helped us see our strengths.

It was a valuable meeting, a very good use of time.  He is an accomplished ‘presenter.’  He helped us get started in the conversation, and then let us guide the flow.

He identified very specific actions we could take immediately, and advised of actions to do more often.

We anticipate meeting with him at least one more time, likely 3-4 months from now after we have done some modifications to our operation.

Thank you for providing access to this resource. Hugely valuable.  And he is a very pleasant person to work with!

Thanks again.Lisa

When I asked Lisa if I could share her email, this was her quick reply:

Yes indeed—please share with all who should know.!

It really was uplifting, inspiring of hope.

We /Heather and I, and all small business owners, work every day to get things right, with all the best ‘good intentions’ and good faith, but when we have only our perspective, even when we think we are being proactive, etc,  there is nothing like a calming conversation with someone.

He was so ‘neutral,’ open to what we were telling him, and then he drilled down to the relevant questions to get us thinking about what could be improved and  how to move in a better direction.

And he didn’t say ‘that will be a quick fix,’ he said, ‘if you start incorporating these other activities,  you are going to find more of what you have identified  as your goals.’

It really was a great meeting.

There are only 45 slots for all the members of the all the chambers in the City of Seattle.  These will be used up quickly.  We will definitely have to let our City Councilmember know that this was a great use of money and when you are looking for ways to help companies sustain and grow, this is a great place to put the money.
